Only committee advising records that include a preliminary and/or final meeting date will print to your Annual Activity Report. To ensure that these records are reflected on your AAR, review your Committee Advising records and a preliminary committee meeting date or a final committee meeting date and save in Works.
As of April 2017, NSF announced new requirements for submission of Collaborators and Other Affiliations (COA) information. Works provides a new NSF Collaborators Report pre-formatted to meet the new requirements, and it is available to all faculty. To run this report, navigate to “Reports” on the top menu of your Works page.
New to Works? Need a refresher? Works training sessions are designed for all users and skill levels. Sessions can be tailored to focus on key areas for you or your group, to include importing publications, reviewing and updating imported data, and running useful reports.
All training sessions will now be held via Zoom. We are happy to accommodate everything from one-on-one sessions to trainings for groups or entire departments. Please contact [email protected] to request a training.
Import publication citations by linking directly to ORCID. Find out more about using this feature on the ORCID Imports page.

On the bottom of the screen for imported records, there is a checkbox for "Do you want this record printed to reports?". Now, if this box is unchecked, the record will not print to your Annual Activity Report - Standard. This allows you to control which imported records appear on your report. Review your records on the Scheduled Teaching (Imported data), Academic and Committee Advising, and Grants, Sponsored Research, and Contracts (Imported data) screens and make the necessary updates today!
This new screen allows faculty members to easily track and report on supervision/mentorship activities that fall outside the categories of scheduled advising and peer mentorship. Use this screen to capture post docs, residents, and trainees with which you work and research. The new screen can be found in the Teaching/Advising section of Works.
Your Rapid Reports function allows you to quickly and easily produce most common reports (Annual Activity Reports and CVs), however, it is a limited tool. You will need to go through Run Reports in order to generate reports in different formats (such as Excel) or makes specific customizations. Please note: You can only run your NSF Collaborators Report in the Run Reports utility as this report produces an Excel file.
Now, in addition to Scopus, Crossref, and PubMed, faculty members can import publications directly from Web of Science. For details on the integration and instructions on how to import from citation managers and database, click here!
A new reporting feature allows faculty members to create their own CVs. Formatting and record entry can be customized to ensure each CV meets the unique needs of the faculty. To explore how to create and save your own customized CVs today, start here!
